The humility of Christ is a foundational virtue embraced by the emerging leader by a posture of:
- fellowship leading to listening with love
- seeking the beauty of the Lord leading to the wisdom of the Lord
- first love leading to self-sacrifice
- esteem leading to honor
- worship leading to obedience
- embracing suffering leading to brokenness
- the cross leading to resurrection

Spiritual
- Fasting and prayer asking for humility
- Journal to God about pride and humility in one’s life and listen for the Lord to speak about said topics
- Meditate on ways to apply character or perfections of Christ
- Note ways that the Spirit is calling one to repentance by turning our mindset to a new one revealed in Christ
- Memorize Philippians
- Begin a discipline of solitude building to a Solitude & Silence Retreat (min 3 days) and one day per week
- Give away something of high personal value at the prompting of the Holy Spirit
- Invite family and friends into identification of idols process and a process of putting discovered idols to death
Experiential
- Minister/serve with no communication to anyone about anything you have done in ministry/service
- Reflect on what characterized your first love of Christ – what its practices and service were. Re-engage those things for a period of time given by the Holy Spirit
- Take a missions trip to a third world country --a complete change of environment -- that gets one’s hands dirty and body tired.
- Try a skill or activity for the very first time
- Invite one’s spouse or member of one’s household to describe their experience of your humility and/or pride
- Faithful engagement with spiritual mentor
- Resolve and explore open and closed offenses and invoke full reconciliation within relationships via footwashing
Relational
- Invite humble people to share their story of humility
- Listen to your own story regarding humility and pride. Write the story, then have spouse or close friend edit your story.
Instructional
- Read Humility by Andrew Murray and write a paper of one step of application for each principle encountered in the text
- Do a comparative study of Moses and Jesus for identification and application of like principles garnered from their lives
- Transparently share two or three incidences of encountering the Lord in a humbling process #Study the life of Brother Yun, Martin Luther King Jr, or George Muller and journal about how their example impacts you personally
