Recipe

Preparation:

As a family play the “Who Am I?” game. One parent will write celebrity names or biblical heroes on several pieces of paper. Each person will then take a turn answering questions about their identity. Set a limit of ten questions before the correct identity is revealed.

Cooking Steps

1. Open in prayer.

2. Parent: Ask each youth to answer this question: “Who Am I?” Possible answers could include the things they possess, the sports they play, a job or a club, the way they look, the amount of popularity they have. Ask: Who defines you? How would other people identify you? How would they describe you based on your physical appearance and on your personality?

3. Read together: John 1:12-13; 1 Corinthians 5:17; Ephesians 1:13-14. Discuss together what these verses tell us about who we are. Make a “T” on a paper and write two headings: “Our New Identify in Christ” and “Our Old Identify”.

4. As a family write down these biblical affirmations of our identity in Christ (Conformed to His Image by Kenneth Boa).

Taste Test

Every week recite the affirmation and the bible verse as you send your youth out the door every morning. Do this until you have finished the entire list! You can also search the scripture and find some other affirmations.
