This is both a team and an individual project.
A. Team Aspect:
In your teams, please write a paper on the fruits of the Spirit mentioned by Paul in Galatians 5:22-23.
Your paper should consist of a full page or so (double-spaced) on each attribute:
- 1. A brief meditation on the nature of this virtue.
- 2. Brief studies of other New Testament passages that deal with similar themes.
- 3. At least one passage from the Old Testament that speaks of this same attribute with brief commentary on the passage.
- 4. A biblical example of a man/woman who demonstrated this virtue.
- 5. An example of how this character attribute might be demonstrated today.
You may divide up this work between team members, but each member must study the finished paper.

2. When your team paper is finished (and when you have finished the purity assignment) please reflect on each of the attributes and then write a personal reflection paper that covers each of the virtues. For each attribute:
- Rate yourself with regard to this virtue. (Please cover “purity” issues under “faithfulness” and “self-control”.)
- What is your plan for improvement in this area? Please be specific. (Please cover “purity” issues under “faithfulness” and “self-control”.)
Please submit the team paper to the ConneXions Support Team, and the personal paper to your Pastoral Coach for his or her input. Please also submit the personal paper to the Director, giving notice to the Staff of so doing.
Note: the participants will return to this two more times during the year and complete the following:
Please read the paper your team wrote in Module 1 on the Fruit of the Spirit.
Look at how you rated yourself concerning each virtue at that time and also during Module 2. Also consider the plans for improvement you designed for yourself at those times.
Now, please do the following for each virtue mentioned in Galatians 5:
- 1. Rate yourself again with regard to this virtue. Note whether you are doing better or worse than when you previously assessed yourself.
- 2. How well did you accomplish your previous plans for improvement in this area? Please be specific. If necessary, make a new plan for improvement– or, as appropriate, affirm your previous plan.
Please submit this paper to your Pastoral Coach and discuss your plan with him or her. Also please submit this paper to the Staff.
