Theme: Choosing Friends Carefully

1. (individual/group) Read the article, “Who’s Packing Your Parachute” and discuss its lessons.

2. (group) Read Proverbs 13:20: Can you think of examples in real life of those who are companions of the wise and or the foolish? What do you learn from them?

3. (individual) Why do you not find Redwood trees growing by themselves but always in a forest of Redwood tree? Go online and research the Redwood tree root system and the bark of the trees, then share your discovers with your group. What lessons do you learn from the community of Redwoods and the importance for you to be in a healthy community?

4. (group)Identify the four types of people in Proverbs 1 and match the correct definition with each type. What is the admonition and why?

5. (individual/group) Look up — Prov 20:19; Prov 22:24-25; Prov 28:7; Prov 29:3 and identify four types of people you should watch out for. Why?

6. (group) Read Proverbs 7:1-5: What are you doing or can start to do to make wisdom (skill developed by learning and experience) your intimate friend? Share not only your ideas but also ways in which we are or can implement these ideas.

7. (group) Take the time in your group to pray to God for His wisdom, for His helping you carefully choose your close friendships. Pray that you will keep your heart teachable before the Lord.

8. (personal) Who are you walking with? Prov 13:20, 1 Cor 15:33. Who’s packing your parachute?
