Call Sin For What It Is

God has been impressing me quite strongly recenlty regarding sin. He has caused me to be very emphatic and bold in this area of my life as well as the rest of the world and the church world in particular. We have a tendency to gloss over sin and call it a mistake, goof, slip, stumble. This is not how God sees it and it is not taught in the Bible in any of those terms.

In Psalms it says that God casts our sins as far as the east is from the west not our mistakes, goofs, slips, or stumbles. 1 John 1:9 tells us that if we confess our sins he will cleanse us from our sins. James instructs us to confess our sins to one another. Why are we not preaching and speaking out against sin in the church? Why does it matter if people get "offended"? We needed to be offended at the very idea and nature of sin in our own personal lives, the lives of those around us, the church world, and the non-beliving world.
