Focus: Christ
1. Look in the Gospel of Mark and find a story about Jesus that appeals to you. Meditate on that story for an hour. Concentrate only on Jesus and do not compare yourself with Him. Just look at Him. Focus on the qualities you see in Him rather than dwell on the deficiencies you see in yourself. Write down your reflections.
2. Next, read aloud – slowly and repetitively – the story of Lazarus’ death and resurrection in John 11. Look through the verses to find a special insight about Jesus. What about Him in this story makes you want to love Him more? Remember: Focus on the qualities you see in Him rather than dwell on the deficiencies you see in yourself. Write down your reflections.
3. Finally, contemplate Jesus in John 1. Ask the who, what, where, when and why questions. Most importantly, focus on the qualities you see in Jesus rather than dwell on the deficiencies you see in yourself. Fix your eyes on Jesus. Write down your reflections.
4. Get together with your prayer partner and tell him or her about something about Jesus that makes you want to love Him more!
